Thing 2. Thoughts about Web 2.0

I find a lot of applications for my classroom. One of them, is having a digital newsletter, where parents could read what we are going to be learning every week; track their son/daughter’s reading fluency rate, or I even think that they could read aloud a chapter that is posted on the letter, listen to a read-aloud podcast, etc! The possibilities are endless!!!

  1. It sounds as though you are already familiar with some of the "things" you will be discovering in the class! I think you'll learn a few new ones to add to your toolbelt!

  2. A digital newsletter is a really good idea. Even though many parents do not have a computer available 24 hours a day, I think that some who are hesitant to come to school to check on things (characteristic of lower socioeconomic groups who may not have grown up with a positive image of school) might be inclined to check the website. If the website is friendly and informative, this might create a bridge to communication that is so difficult to achieve!
